Blue Cross appoints new VP, chief of staff

Albuquerque, NM — Janice M. Torrez has been named Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico vice president of external affairs and chief of staff.
Torrez is responsible for directing and controlling the overall planning, budgeting and administration of the company, which is a division of Chicago-based Health Care Service Corp. Torrez will also oversee government relations, media relations, public affairs and community outreach.
Torrez has 18 years of experience as a health-care senior executive. She most recently was president of The Resultz Group, a health-care consulting firm providing business strategy and solutions for regional and national health-care clients. Previously, Torrez served as the vice president of marketing and external affairs for BCBSNM and vice president of business development for Lovelace Sandia Health System, now known as Lovelace Health System.
Torrez holds a bachelor of science in business administration and a MBA from the University of Phoenix.
