Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) employees worked with the Youth Development, Inc. (YDI), Headstart program to provide holiday presents for families in need. For the fifth year, BCBSNM donated to the Adopt-a-Family program during the holidays. BCBSNM teams provided holiday presents for 28 YDI families, including families from the Albuquerque, Espanola, and Taos Headstart programs.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) has redesigned its Web site to better assist and educate customers. The new site helps enable wise health care decisions and communicates a commitment to partnership with BCBSNM customers.

In an effort to help reduce childhood obesity and prevent future cases of diabetes, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico is participating in the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association's Pediatric Obesity and Diabetes Prevention Pilot Program.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) has promoted Margaret (Margie) McNett to the position of Vice President and General Counsel New Mexico. She will be responsible for the operation of the New Mexico legal department, providing and coordinating the legal support for the New Mexico Division. She also serves as the lead of the Human Resources Legal Practice group for Health Care Service Corporation. She has been with the BCBSNM legal team since 2003.

In an effort to help improve the health and wellness of New Mexicans, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) is making a charitable contribution of $2,000 to the American Cancer Society (ACS). The donation matches 100 hours of volunteer service from BCBSNM employees.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) announced today that it will waive copays and deductibles for the H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine.
