ALBUQUERQUE — Monica Anaya has been named the 2022 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) Volunteer of the Year.
"Every year, we recognize an employee who demonstrates the spirit of giving back through volunteering," said Janice Torrez, BCBSNM president. "We are proud to recognize Monica as Volunteer of the Year. She is an outstanding example of what volunteering is all about."
Anaya, a quality analyst/trainer from the pharmacy specialty review department, is an active community member and has logged over 200 volunteer hours in the past five years. Anaya volunteers with Roadrunner® Food Bank, Blue Star Mothers of America and the Alzheimer's Association®. For the past year, Anaya has focused on volunteering at Roadrunner Food Bank. The organization is a nonprofit dedicated to solving food insecurity in New Mexico.
"I am honored to be recognized as this year's Volunteer of the Year. I'm thankful to be a part of an organization that encourages, supports and provides volunteer opportunities in our communities," said Anaya. "I look forward to continuing my effort and encouraging others to join me."
In honor of the award, BCBSNM will donate $1,000 to Anaya’s charity of choice, Roadrunner Food Bank.
